Milk Free
Kallo has a number of milk and dairy free products.
Cows milk allergy is the most common food allergy in children and can cause a multitude of health problems, although many children grow out of it. A milk allergy is a reaction to the proteins in milk either, casein or whey. Some people are allergic only to one or the other however many are allergic to both.
Lactose intolerance is often confused with milk allergy, but the two conditions are not the same. If someone is lactose intolerant this is due to the digestive system of the person not being able to fully break down the sugar found in milk (lactose). This inability is caused by a shortage of the enzyme lactase, which is produced by the cells that line the small intestine. Limiting lactose in the diet is essential although many people can tolerate low levels of lactose.
It is likely that people with a lactose intolerance will probably react to all animal milks, but those who react to specific proteins in cows' milk may well be able to tolerate other types of milks such as sheep or goats milk.
It is recommended that if you suspect that you have a milk and dairy allergy, or an intolerance, you should contact your GP for professional advice.
